how it should be

I've been swimming every day for the past three days. My hair is perpetually wet, pulled back in a messy bun, and my swimsuit barely has time to dry before it's put on again. Last night I swam under the stars -- I watched them twinkle, light-years away, as the water cooled me off. It was beautiful.

{actually from Hawaii, shhh...}

I went to a pool party yesterday, and my dinner pretty much consisted solely of potato chips. Afterwards I slept over at my friend's house, where we made (really gooey, mushy) brownies. So when I got home, I had a big bowl of blueberries as compensation. That totally makes up for it, right? But then this afternoon I went swimming again and got Italian ice and split Skittles and Lays with my sisters. Whoops. I was curious to see what sort of face a bird would make if it ate a Sour Skittle, so we dropped one. I saw a grackle grab it in its beak and fly away. I'm still wondering...

{Picnik deserves a little more credit, just sayin'}

Then my dad *had* to go to REI for some reason or another. Luckily, it happens to be right next door to an Anthropologie and a book store. Score! I've come to the conclusion that you can pretty much buy me anything from Anthro for my birthday & I'll be happy. I want to live there. :P

Tonight we went out to eat at our favorite Asian restaurant. I love the fried rice.

Also, I just like strawberries. That's all.

My friend (the same one whose house I slept over at) invited me to spend the Fourth of July with her on a ranch in rural Texas, about two hours away. I'm excited -- for the cows, the fireworks (they're canceled in the city this year because of the drought) and all the pictures I can take. I leave tomorrow around noon (which gives me time to go to the neighborhood parade, hurrah!) and return Tuesday evening.

Until then, have a happy Fourth of July! (Well, if you're American. But have a good day even if you're not.)

  2. I've got beach hair right now. I quite enjoy it, actually. Gaah, lucky you, going to Anthropologie! I've always wanted to visit one. And that second photo with the 'celestial' kind of overlay, is awesome.

    Well, tomorrow I'm off to 'The Lake' for camping {you know the one. Well, you've at least seen photos}. I'll be back in a week. Good-bye until then! :)

  3. Happy 4th of July to you, too! =D

    (I'm American, but I don't always feel like it since I was born in PNG as a missionary kid and grew up over there.)

    Btw, I love the waves! So beautiful!

  4. HI KENDALL. I'M THE FRIEND. I FEEL SPECIAL. LEGIT.

    Also, after eating all those brownies and chips and oreos... I went to a roller derby party that involved a potluck, and someone made cake balls. I think I need to run laps around the ranch to work off all this chocolate.

  6. Gah. I need summer. Seriously, I'm dying for a break! They've opened the pool, the big open-air one, so I might go this weekend if my friends are free, because smelling of chlorine is basically smelling of summer.
