the one with lots of tangents

Do you want to know my biggest regret? Of course you do; that's what they always ask on those tags and questionnaires that float around the internet. Well, my biggest regret is not getting Hayley G. Hoover's picture or autograph when I kinda/sorta met her last summer. Truth.

Anyway, not only is she extremely funny but she writes stuff that makes me want to be a better person, basically. I love it when I read something that makes me want to do something, even though most of the time I don't, which is my own fault for being lazy, and then I feel guilty, a process which she also discusses. I am working on it.

One thing I am currently trying out is vegetarianism. Yes, I am giving up meat for Lent. This is super hypocritical of me because most of my friends are vegetarians and I've always been that annoying one who is like "Meat is so delicious om nom nom" and points out that herbivores are always the first to die in event of some apocalypse. (True fact. I learned it Planet Earth.) Well, I don't want to be the first to die but I do want to challenge myself, so yeah. That is happening. I guess I should, like, research diets so I don't die from lack of protein or something, but who am I kidding, I don't have time for that. (And here I am blogging...) I only really eat meat for dinner, anyway, and there are lots of things I can talk my mom into making, like soups and pasta and salads, that are vegetarian. Not fish or seafood, though. First of all, the smell of fish literally makes me sick and so I don't eat it, and second of all, um, fish are animals. The most important thing is that I can still eat desserts. Although, I have to inform you something I learned on Tumblr yesterday, which is that Nutella is not vegetarian. Do what you like with that information. It makes no difference to me, as my mom doesn't buy it any more!! (Definitely no ill feelings there. Definitely not.)

I'll be sure to keep you updated on my adventures in veggie land. I don't know what will happen after Easter, but I guess we'll just have to see then!

Man, my life is so exciting.

Speaking of exciting: last Doctor Who episode watched: Season 1, Episode 10
(just copying Kristina because I like being able to look back and remember when things happened) (this may be a thing, if you don't mind. not like it matters if you do.)

P.S. Oh, and in case you were at all curious, my next biggest regrets all have to do with food. Like the time I got animal crackers from the vending machine even though there were perfectly good Cheetos right there. The animal crackers turned out to be stale and I could have cried. Would it have been so bad to inhale a few extra calories for the sake of taste, I ask you? No, I do not think so.

P.P.S. Any of you folk ever been to L.A.? What are some fun things to do there? (not Disneyland)

  1. dude. I would totally be a vegetarian (I've given it serious thought before) but I just LIKE MEAT TOO MUCH. good luck, girl!

  2. I've been to LA, but I couldn't give you much advice.

I was being such a good little vegetarian and then my mom force fed me meat. I love it though, and I definitely need to get back with the program.
I'm looking forward to reading the book Eating Animals.

What would be in nutella that is meat?
I'm guessing it's actually not Vegan, they must have some sort of animal biproduct in there.
Peanut butter is great for protein, as are almonds.
    Yogurt too.

Sorry, I'm a little of a health nut!

That made me smile about the food regrets. I never can choose anything food related and usually regret my choices as well.

  3. YES YES NOW WE'RE ALMOST ALL VEGETARIANS. If we can get Erina and Caitlin to do it, we'd be the big group of vegetarians. We could have superpowers (though those only come with vegans).

Anyways, I almost cried about the Nutella thing. Unfortunately, that's very common in stuff and I'm too lazy to check a lot of the time.

  4. Good luck on your vegetarianism! I tried once and only lasted 2 days... Anywaaaays, I have been to LA! Lots of the things I did were around the city though more than in them! We visited the Santa Monica Pier, the Hollywood Sign, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and Venice Beach all in one day, then headed back to our hotel that was in LA for the night!

  5. lol, I tried to be a vegetarian once, and succeeded... for about three hours.

  6. Well, Grauman's Chinese Theater is in L.A. and the Harry Potter cast's handprints and footprints are there, but it's EXTREMELY crowded - there are people lining the street everywhere trying to get you to buy their demo CDs or something like that. And the parking is horrendous. But putting my feet in Emma Watson's footprints made it all better for me. ;) (Not so much for my parents, though.)

I would also recommend going to In-N-Out Burger...the best fast-food in invention. And Sprinkles Cupcakes has some of the best cupcakes in existence - some people may tell you to go to Crumbs Cupcakes instead, but don't (cupcakes from Crumbs are practically a sugarload).

  7. I'm hoping to be a vegetarian soon. Except I am The Queen Of Fainting {like, seriously, I faint once every couple of months and have dizzy spells every few days} so I need to get me some protein, which means I need to find recipes with lentils and other forms of protein that aren't dead animal.
    So yeah.

  8. I don't actually eat a lot of meat either, I rarely eat red meat (except for bacon, because some things just aren't worth giving up). And yes fish is gross. Like really gross. The smell...UGH.

  9. I live in LA, and some of my favorite places to go are the art museums around down town Holly Wood. I could spend eons at the LACMA. :)

  10. Ah.. foods consume my regrets too. It's an important thing in my life :)

  11. I've wanted to do the exact same thing, and am in the exact same situation!
Whenever I say I'm thinking of becoming a vegetarian my friends just give me "the look"
    Good luck!

  12. I've taken the leap and been vegetarian since Jan. 1!
After I just decided, once and for all, (I've been on and off for awhile) it wasn't hard at all.
    Eggs are my main protein.

Hey, you. Be nice.
