pens and (pain)ts

Here are some low quality iPod pictures of some low quality things I've painted recently. I dug out my watercolors over winter break and I've filled more pages in the past week than I have since I got this sketchbook last Christmas. I haven't been writing a ton lately, so it makes me feel good to know I'm still creating something, though I'm finding myself invariably drifting back to words. I'm also realizing that, in the traditional sense, I'm not much of an artist, and I'm okay with that. I don't like drawing as much as I thought I did, and it's generally a struggle, and I don't know if I'll even take art next year (maybe I'll do printmaking or something for lulz), but I like stuff like this, where I can just do whatever. It's very therapeutic, and writing with paint is fun.

We're just going to ignore South America, mmmmk?

The hand clearly got messed up but I like the bird so it can stay.

  1. too beautiful kenny g!! I wish I could do this and not worry about employing "proper techniques" or whatever and impressing the people in my art class and whether or not I can use this for my AP portfolio. this looks like so much more fun and way more creative-juice-flowing (or, you know, something less creepy-sounding than that.

  2. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th are my favourites! And I don't know what you're talking about because you're about 18 times more of a painter than I am!

  4. Hahaha don't say you're bad because hello GCSE art student here who says this, your just-for-fun 'not very good' stuff is better than most people in her class.
(ugh that was a really bad sentence)
But these are good, I don't understand how people can draw hands (?!?!) and I like your puns.

  7. Your little paintings make me smile. I like them very much. I've been using my watercolor pencils more often in the past week. It's astoundingly peaceful to sit down, sketch it out, fill it in, and then paint. It's wonderful to feel proud, too, once you've finished.
