the simplicity of weekends

While weekdays are often hectic, full of busy school-and-work days and never enough time for everything, weekends are a time for fun, food and family. {Cheesy alliteration, anyone?} Weekends are for simplicity.

For sunlight and neighborhood cats and good food and climbing trees and looking for spring. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Tomorrow I'm going to San Antonio, probably to the zoo and Sea World and other typical things like that. :) Fun, fun, fun. And photos, of course. Always photos. My aunt and uncle brought their camera {Canon Rebel XT, it's like my camera's retired mother or something} and they have a bigger lens they said I could borrow. I don't know what one it is but it's cool anyhow.

democracy in action

This morning, thousands of people from all across Texas gathered at the state capitol to protest the education cuts. I was among them. As a Texas public school student, this is one issue that personally and directly affects me. And I brought my camera, of course.


This doesn't show nearly how many people there were. One estimate said 11,000, other people said more like 8 or 9,000. Either way, it was a lot.

Many people brought umbrellas because they want them {the legislators} to use the rainy day fund. {And because it was very sunny and those things make great shade. :) }

I ran into a bunch of people I knew there. This was one of my friend's signs that she made:

In case you can't read it, the bottom word is "educate".

The 'Why U No..." Guy, anyone? :P

I didn't make any signs because I had my camera to carry. XD But I chanted along with everyone else, "Save our schools! Save our schools!"

It was pretty fun. I've never been to anything like that before but I liked it. I liked taking a part in something bigger, showing that I care about the future of our state. It was good to see everyone out there--young and old, liberal and conservative. You don't have to get political, because this is a non-partisan issue--everyone should care about our education and about our future.

{Thank God it's Friday}

This is a happy, celebrating {short} post. Why?

1. It is spring break.

2. I have 50 49 followers {someone unfollowed :(}.

These are both very exciting things that make me very happy. :)

{I know this isn't the most original idea but I liked it. And this picture was taken a while ago, in January. So, ha.}

They make me smile.

So, my cousins are coming in for spring break {well, five of them. Wish C + A could be here as well!}. In fact, they are on their way as we speak. They should be here quite soon! We are going to San Antonio for a few days, too. A trip, however small = many pictures. :D I love spring break; it's like a little taste of summer, which we all know is the king of breaks. Speaking of kings, I watched the Lion King in Spanish today... Off topic.
